Over the last decade, I’ve been on a journey into the heart of deep rest through yoga nidra, conscious movement and breath.
Besides my work as a deep rest facilitator, I am a system microbiology PhD researcher. I love engaging my rational mind just as much as I love exploring the quiet wisdom of the body. For me yin fuels yang, and yang fuels yin.
In my research I’ve studied how bacteria prepare for future stress by entering a sleep-like state (like we did in this article). So interestingly, that’s a beautiful parallel to what I share in my deep rest practices!
I discovered the power of yoga nidra during my studies, at a time when I wasn’t sure what I was doing anymore or who I was doing it for. I had always thought of myself as a naturally relaxed person, but this was a type of deep full-body relaxation I had never felt before. It felt like coming home. Like all shattered pieces of me settled into the right place again.
Ten years later, and I’ve guided hundreds of group classes, one-on-one sessions, workshops, and longer programs. I love making rest radically accessible (offering free practices on Insight Timer), while also creating more intimate spaces for deeper exploration, both online and in person.
